God is the Head of your team!
Our Main Point Today: God wants to make you whole, emotionally and spiritually; and He’s willing to start the process right now. God is not playing on the opposite team trying to trip you up. God is the Head of your team, desiring to lift you up and lead you to a win! Let's look at Matthew 8:28-34.

What does it mean to have the incredible blessing of Christ’s righteousness transferred to those who believe in Him?
God loves to bless all His creatures, especially those human creatures who become His children through personal faith in Jesus Christ. One of the greatest blessings God provides to us is to transfer our sin in total to Jesus (paid for on the cross) and transfer His righteousness to us when we believe in Him; but just what does that mean? Let's discuss this today and learn just how incredibly blessed we believers in Jesus really are!

    Reformation Sunday

Today is Reformation Sunday??  The Reformation - it changed the world and helped millions of people of all people groups enter heaven over the last 500 years.  But what was the Reformation, what did it accomplish, and how did it benefit us here at Beacon Church today?  Let's explore together how we are "saved by faith and not by works."  Rom. 1:16-17

    The Sermon on the Mount
In Matthew Jesus said "The Kingdom of God has arrived."  He then said people were to "repent and believe" in order to be forgiven and redeemed.  He immediately then described the manner in which new believers should begin to think about their lives and actions in the Sermon on the Mount.  Let's see how we are doing using this Scripture in Matthew 5 as a measuring tool.

Poor Start – Ups Lead to Poor Destinartions
What's the big deal about participating in non-Christian religious ceremonies?  First, God prohibits it, so it's disobedience.  Second, it begins a a subtle religious blending that moves people away from fully believing in the true God and toward believing in a mentally-created hybrid that's half God and half other god-concepts.  Third, it exalts our own religious wisdom over God's perfect wisdom as to what's best for us.  And...our country is full of folks that have inadvertently followed this path.  Why would a person do that?  I'll explain this phenomena from my own personal family history.  It's a bigger temptation for a lot of us than you might think at first glance.

    Encouraged in Unity
God wants to encourage his people (including us here at Beacon) to be united in purpose, attitudes, words and actions.  Paul tells us that these attributes are the signs of mature believers.  A united, loving church body is attractive to those in the community who yet need to establish a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.  Its people are also positioned to receive the fullest measure of God's blessings.

    We Are Image-Bearers
Have you ever considered that each of us is a personal representative of God to the world in which we live?  God created each of us as "image-bearers," with a role to fulfill.  We each have certain attributes and abilities to do our individual jobs well.  How are YOU personally performing as a God-sent IMAGE-BEARER in your personal sphere of influence???

    The Apostle’s Creed
    APOSTLE’S CREED

I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
    Maker of heaven and earth.

    I believe in Jesus Christ,
    God's only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
      born of the Virgin Mary,
      suffered under Pontius Pilate,
      was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead (grave).
      On the third day he rose again;
      he ascended into heaven,
      he is seated at the
    right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge
    the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
      the holy catholic Church,
      the communion of saints,
      the forgiveness of sins,
      the resurrection of the body,
      and the life everlasting.  Amen.

    The “Goliaths” In Our Lives

Life is almost never simple; in fact, life can be downright complicated and tough.  There will always be a "Goliath" lurking around the corner waiting to greet you and me with new problems to bear and hopefully resolve.  The story about David and Goliath is not just another war story.  It's about the awesome power of a life built around bold faith in the Lord.  It reminds us that it is God who gives us victory, and He sometimes gives it to those of us who are weak in order that His power might be known to all.

People Like You & Me – Week #7

The story of Deborah, Barak and Jael in Judges 4 features an amalgam of unusual characters: an obedient female judge and prophetess, a squeamish male military and political leader, and two-faced female executioner.  While this story has no connection to the New Testament gender qualifications for present church leaders, it does leave us with a few good lessons for life.  First, God often allows his disobedient children to suffer their sins' consequences to get their attention - sometimes for as long as we remain hard-headed and in sin.  Second, when God's appointed time to act is at hand, God uses the most unusual agents to bring His will to completion in the most unexpected ways - God uses people we would never use.  And last, we can persevere in the toughest of circumstances, short-term or long-term, with Christ's empowerment.
