People Like You & Me – Week #1

Today we begin a new series entitled "People Like You and Me."  We will take a look at some of the people in history who made it into print in God's Word.  Sometimes we look at the characters in Scripture as larger than life… "Heroes of the Faith"... People we feel we could never measure up to.  But, at the end of the day, they are people just like you and me...People who struggle with faith, who question God, who fail, and who sometimes do downright foolish things.  We will start at the beginning of the Bible with Adam and Eve...

    Psalm 46

This morning we will take a look into Psalm 46. This psalm was written by the sons of a man named Korah. One of the most familiar and often-quoted verses in all of Psalms is found in verse 10 which reads, "Be still and know that I am God." Let's take some time this morning to "be still" before God and ask Him to speak into our hearts and minds.

    Psalm 23

This morning we take a look into one of the most beautiful and beloved Psalms: Psalm 23. This is known as the “Shepherds’ Psalm,” and presents a beautiful picture of our journey with God. Before serving as king, David was well acquainted with what it meant to be a shepherd…and he draws on his experience to connect us in a beautiful way with the Chief Shepherd.

    “It Is Finished”

Today we celebrate the Lord’s Table…A reminder of His amazing love for us.  Jesus made several statements as He hung on the cross, all of which are significant.  This morning we will focus on just one of them: ”It is finished.”  The work of Christ is complete, and that has implications for you and me.

    Psalm 139

This week we take a look at Psalm 139.  The Psalms speak to our hearts through poetry, song, and emotions...They also speak of deep truth.  This Psalm is full of theology, speaking to the attributes of God.  It covers God’s omniscience, omnipotence, and omnipresence.  It’s our prayer that God uses our time together this morning to encourage and strengthen our hearts…

Lessons from Jonah – Week #4

This week we conclude our series in the book of Jonah.  This brief account of Jonah’s life provides many parallels for our own lives.  It’s an account of a man who thought he knew better than God…A trap we can all easily fall into.  The overriding themes are sovereignty, grace, and the amazing love of God for all mankind.

    An Update from the Thompson’s

Today we welcome Rob Thompson and his family.  Rob, Becky and their three children are serving the Lord in Haiti, but are here in the states for a visit.  Our Beacon members going on the October 2014 missions trip to Haiti will be ministering with the Thompson's.  Rob is no stranger to Beacon, having been part of our youth group back when Pastor Al had a lot more hair!

We look forward to hearing what the Lord has to say through Rob, and pray God’s continued blessing on their ministry!
