A Walk Through the Psalms
Today we take a walk through some of the Psalms.  The book of Psalms captures the heart cry and innermost thoughts of Old Testament saints.  These poems and songs are beautiful, honest, introspective, joyous, sometimes sorrowful, and wonderfully refreshing.  Christians of every generation have found the Psalms to be a source of strength and encouragement.  Our prayer is that God will remind us today of His presence and enabling power to face whatever is on our horizon.

    The Beauty of Following God’s Lead
    This morning we will look at an account from the book of Acts involving a man named Philip and his encounter with a foreigner who was searching for God.  You and I will run into people in similar circumstances.  In this passage we find encouragement about the beauty of being willing to follow God's lead.

    Prayer: An Important (Yet Mysterious) Aspect of Faith
    Prayer...such an important, and yet mysterious aspect of our faith.  Important in that we are encouraged to pray and believe that God works in and through our prayers, yet mysterious in exactly how that comes about!  Today we will look at some of the prayers of the Apostle Paul, and how they encourage us in this journey with God.

    The Apostle’s Creed
    APOSTLE’S CREED

    I believe in God the Father, Almighty,
    Maker of heaven and earth.

    I believe in Jesus Christ,
    God's only Son, our Lord,
      who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
      born of the Virgin Mary,
      suffered under Pontius Pilate,
      was crucified, died, and was buried;
      he descended to the dead (grave).
      On the third day he rose again;
      he ascended into heaven,
      he is seated at the
    right hand of the Father,
      and he will come to judge
    the living and the dead.

    I believe in the Holy Spirit,
      the holy catholic Church,
      the communion of saints,
      the forgiveness of sins,
      the resurrection of the body,
      and the life everlasting.  Amen.

    Paul’s Questions in Romans 8
    Today we celebrate the Lord's Table.  This is a reminder of how much God loves us.  We will take a look at four questions that are posed by the apostle Paul at the end of Romans 8.  The answers to these questions are ones meant to encourage us in our journey of faith.

    What We Learned Through Day Camp
    We're glad you're here today!  Over the past two weeks, we've had 480 campers, 50 counselors, and about 80 volunteers come through our church building.  It's been a blessing to host our 8th summer of Beacon Day Camp!  This morning we'll take a look at what was taught during Day Camp, as the lessons apply to us as adults just as much as they do to the children who were here for Camp.

    The Book of James
    The book of James encourages us to not just listen to the Word of God, but to do what it says.  Standing on the truth of God’s Word has become less and less popular here in America. As we listen to James chapters 1, 3 and 5 recited today, let us prayerfully be open to what areas God wants to change in our lives. Let us be quick to do what God desires, and to obey His Word.

    Why We Do What We Do
    Happy July 4th weekend! As we celebrate the Lord's table, we will take some time to consider why we do what we do. In other words, how important is this time together? How important is the church? And what are we to focus on? It's our prayer that the Lord will bless your heart, your mind, and your soul as we meet together today!

    The Prophet Jeremiah
    Today we take a look at the prophet Jeremiah.  Jeremiah was calling the people of God to repent and return to their faith.  Like many of the prophets we find in the Old Testament, his words fall, in large part, on deaf ears.  This morning we'll take a look at some passages that will both challenge and encourage us.
